Fuel SurchargeRR Waste Solutions remains committed to controlling costs so we can continue to provide you with the best overall value for your commercial and industrial waste collection needs. Fuel prices have risen over 35% since January 2005 due to increased demand and increased cost of production during volatile times. These increased costs of fuel are unpredictable and uncontrollable and they greatly impact our costs in providing reliable services to you our customer. Currently our charges do not cover the true impact that rising fuel prices have had on our business. Consequently, for all invoices dated on or after June 25, 2007, we have added the fuel surcharge component to more accurately reflect the impact of changing fuel prices on our expenses. We feel that the fuel surcharge is the only way to pass the increased expense to our customers rather than a permanent increase since it will increase and decrease as fuel prices change. The fuel surcharge calculation will be tied directly to the national average price of diesel fuel as reported weekly by the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy ("Weekly On-Highway Retail Diesel Prices") in its Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices Index. This index is objective, publicly available, and widely recognized in the trucking and transportation industries. This change will ensure that you, our valued customer, will pay a fuel surcharge that is currently adjusted, easy to calculate, and equitable to you and the Company. We appreciate your continued support and understanding during these difficult and changing times. Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Why do you charge a fuel surcharge?A: The fluctuation in the cost of diesel fuel today makes it difficult for our Company to recover fuel expenses in standard operating margins. Our residential and commercial vehicles get 3 to 4 miles per gallon and our roll off vehicles from 6 to 8 miles per gallon. In addition, the third party vendors that provide us good and service to us are charging us a fuel surcharge or additional prices for increased fuel/oil costs. The fuel surcharge calculation is tied to the National Average Fuel Index, which puts our Company closer to covering our fuel costs. Q: If the price of fuel goes down, will my fuel charge go down too? A: Yes, if the Department of Energy's National Average price falls, your fuel charge will come down as well. This information is updated weekly. If the cost of diesel fuel decreases, this will affect your fuel charge. This is the same procedure that we have used in the past. Using this new index allows us to be more responsive to fuel cost changes. Q: How can I see the value of the EIA/DOE Weekly Retail On-Highway Diesel Prices Index? A: Here is the link to the EIA/DOE. This site is updated every Monday evening. |
