Red River Truck in Nashville Gaslight Christmas Parade
How many companies can boast having one of their refuse collection trucks in a prestigious, nighttime Christmas parade? Red River can!
For the 3rd year in a row, a Red River refuse truck was one of the many entries in Nashville's Gaslight Parade held Friday night, December 5th and viewed by the thousands of Nashvillians and visitors who crowded the downtown area to attend this favorite Christmas tradition. |
| Each year, Red River sponsors an art contest for all Nashville 3rd & 4th grade children. Winning art (two winners per school) is then blown up and scanned onto large vinyl banners and displayed on the sides of the Red River collection vehicles which are seen every day throughout the Nashville Metro area. (Red River's Nashville contract encompasses over 90,000 homes.) |
Of all winners, three are chosen by an independent judging panel for the top grand prize honors. Red River donates $1,500.00, $1,000.00 and $500.00 to the school art departments for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place grand prize winners, respectively. |
Red River made another special award this year: the Red River Award of Distinction went to a young lady who showed unique imagination and interpretation of this year's theme of Put Waste in Its Place. For this award, Red River donated $250.00 to this school's art department. |
This art contest is an amazing success – it teaches children sound waste management principles and rewards their imaginations and creative abilities. It is an excellent example of cooperative partnership between a contractor and their customer and; as a rolling art museum, Red River has the brightest and most unique refuse collection vehicles in the country!
